Athletes, actors, and musicians always warm up before a big event so they can do their best. If you want to get the best out your voice you should do the same. This can also help you battle any nerves, as the more warmed up you are, the less likely you are to stumble over your words, mumble, or stutter.
Tongue Twisters like 'Unique New York', 'Truly Rural', and 'Selfish Shellfish' are also a very good way to warm up your voice, too. Repeat them over and over again, getting quicker each time.
