Claire
I worked as a secondary school performing arts and communication skills teacher for 16 years, but left in July 2024 when I realised that sadly, my passion for developing children's confidence and communication skills alongside their theatre skills was not supported by the current school system. I now coach children online from all over the world in public speaking, confident communications, interview preparation, and communication skills. I have also worked as a professional actress, including lots of T.I.E (Theatre in Education), as a Director, and I am an experienced Presenter (TV, Radio, Live, Events, Video, Online).
I feel that children, for whom the school system isn't working for either, should not be disadvantaged in developing their confidence and public speaking skills. So I created a Drama Class with a DIFFERENCE, with less focus on PERFORMANCE, and more on PRESENCE.
Plans for more group sessions/workshop events across Cornwall and Devon
Do you perhaps know of other perfect small venues where more home ed/EBSA drama sessions/ or even public speaking/presenting workshops could be started?
Are you part of a home ed community that could be interested in joining together for booking one-off events, monthly, termly sessions?
Everyone deserves a chance to be a STRONG SPEAKER!
I am interested in knowing about any more sessions/special one-off events

Some important information for participants:
-
This drama group is for home-ed and EBSA children, where the focus is on confidence building, and less on performing (although there will still be plenty of performing opportunities for those who would like them).
-
All sessions will begin in Geodome 1, at Wellbeing at Outways, Pelynt nr Looe, Cornwall (W3W, and full directions are available),
- If parents/carers wish to remain on-site, there is a kitchen area with tea/coffee facilities just before you reach Geodome 1.
- Weather permitting, we may often forage outside for props/costume bits, or even choose to act our story outside. So please dress accordingly.
- Wear clothes you are comfortable moving around in, that don't restrict your movement, and you don't mind getting dusty or muddy.
- Bring a reusable water bottle to every session to keep you hydrated. Drinkable water will be available, as well as on-site toilet facilities.
- Please bring a sun hat if it's warm, and warm layers if it is chilly.
- Once left in our care, all participants must remain on the Outways Wellbeing site for the whole session, but for those who may need a sensory break etc, minutes can be taken in the outside area of the Geodome.
- Participants can be collected from either car park area at the finish time.
- I am a highly experienced drama facilitator, full DBS, and insured,
- 1-to-1 sessions are also available at the same venue by weekly appointment.
